While the upcoming Captain America movie pits the superheroes against one another in a civil war- there’s no denying the Avengers make a great team.

In fact, there are many incredible teams to be found in works of fiction. And just because they’re not real, doesn’t mean they can’t teach your team a thing or two.

Here a few key lessons in teamwork from some of fiction’s greatest crews:

Work towards a common goal

When tackling the big challenges, it helps to make sure everyone is on the same page and working toward the same goal.

The X-Men are perhaps one of the most famous fictional teams, but even their solid bonds are challenged when differing opinions cloud the objectives. Professor X and Magneto rarely team up, due to their opposing views on the human race, but even they make a great team when given a common goal in Days of Future Past.

Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses

The diversity in personalities is clear among the Scooby Gang. From Velma’s intelligence to Fred’s bravery, each team member brings a different set of skills to the table.

Rather than get bogged down in their differences, the Scooby Gang work together and utilise each other’s strengths to solve mysteries.

The same lesson can be seen time and time again across fictional teams. The Avengers, the X-Men, Friends; all these teams rely on each other’s differing personalities to overcome their own weaknesses.

One is better than many

No, this doesn’t mean the individual is the key. Instead, try to think of your team as a single unit. While embracing diversity is great, you need to ensure the members are contributing to a strong and unified whole.

The Avengers work best as a cohesive unit, communicating and cooperating seamlessly to defeat their enemies. While big personalities and high stakes sometimes get in the way, the moments when this superhero squad are in sync make them truly unbeatable.

Let’s hope Captain and Iron Man can sort out their differences and unite behind a common goal in the new movie to ensure the Avengers retain their title as a world-class team!
